    Cowboys & Butchers

I spent over £5,000 with this dental practice two years ago on replacement crowns and bridgework. I was with Dr Baron. We discussed implants as an option but settled on replacements. I had to sign some paperwork which I suspect protected them from any demands for refunds if the treatment failed. As soon as all of the work was completed and money paid, I was told they did not want to treat me again and claimed Mr Baron did not have to give a reason. I have M.E (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) so I did miss some appointments and they used this as their reasoning. Two years later and I had to have a further £8,000 worth of dental implants done in three of the places Mr Baron replaced the crowns because they had failed and fallen out. Furthermore, I was paying the monthly fee of £12.00 which included out of hours emergency treatment. In the two years I was with them, I required emergency treatment once. I telephoned at 5.30pm with pain in my lower left wisdom tooth. The receptionist tried to book me in for the following day but I explained I was in pain now and reminded them I was paying for out of hours treatment if I needed it. Mr Baron was not available so they fit me in to see another dentist. I arrived at 6pm and the dentist was sighing and clearly unhappy about me being there. He claimed there was nothing obviously wrong with the tooth but did a small filling in it anyway. Some weeks later, I was having work done and the computer screen floats above the dental chair, I happened to notice my notes and there was a comment left by the out of hours dentist who was complaining that he did not get home until very late because of me and instructing the reception staff that he never wanted to see me again and not to make an appt for me with him! I had only ever used the emergency out of hours option once in two years and that was the time. Finally, Mr Baron has a tremor in his right hand so injections were awful. I actually started to fear seeing him and developed a slight phobia of dental work. He was rough and insensitive when working on me I often felt like my mouth was a car engine he was hammering and drilling on and forgot there was an actual person under that engine! Absolute cowboys. Appalled and angry about being ripped off and fobbed off after all the money I spent with this practise. Elizabeth Gallagher
